If I currently own
a domain or have a Web site, how do I transfer it to ITSSN?
Your new Web site will be hosted in our state-of-the-art data
facility, where our DNS servers have the stability and reliability
your business needs to compete and grow.
In order for your domain name to point to your new site, you must
notify your domain registrar that your domain name needs to be
pointed to the ITSSN name servers listed below. Please allow your
registrar time to update their systems, and for the information to
propagate throughout the global Internet, which may take up to 7
days.
Use the following ITSSN name servers:
|
|
Name |
IP address |
| Primary: |
DNS1.ITSSN.NET |
209.232.174.190 |
| Secondary: |
DNS2.ITSSN.NET |
209.232.174.189 |
| Tertiary: |
DNS3.ITSSN.NET |
209.232.174.188 |
Important:
Make sure to include the "A", "B",
or "C" at the beginning of the above mentioned name server
addresses, as in “DNS1.ITSSN.NET”.
Some domain registrars do not require a third, or tertiary, name
server address. In such a case, just provide the “A” and “B” name
server information shown above.
Some domain registrars do not require the numeric IP addresses of
the name servers; in such a case, you only need enter the name of
the name server, as in “DNS1.ITSSN.NET”.
For more information please go to ITSSN's Answer Center. (Virtual
Private Servers customers, please see this Answer Center article for
more information.)

How long will it
take for my site to propagate or be seen?
Once you register a new domain or transfer an existing one, you must
let your domain registrar (the company with whom you registered your
domain) know where your site will be residing (unless you registered
it at ITSSN) so they know where to point your domain. You do this by
providing your registrar with your Web host’s name server
information
The Internet is a worldwide network, and is not based on one central
computer. Therefore, when your registrar sends out the information
that your domain needs to point to a new server, it takes several
days for this information to spread to all the computers on the
Internet, all over the world. Once all computers on the Internet
“realize” the name servers and Web site to which your domain is now
pointing, propagation is complete.
This process is not controlled by your domain registrar, your Web
host, or any other single factor. The fact that it is not a
centralized process may contribute to the amount of time it takes to
occur.

Shared or virtual
hosting is usually available on a UNIX or Windows platform. What is
the difference between hosting on these operating systems?
If you are a novice, you most likely will not
require Windows hosting and you should select one of many UNIX
hosting plans. The only time you would need to use Windows hosting
is when you are using the specific Windows applications such as
Access, ASP, Cold Fusion and MS SQL. Microsoft FrontPage may be used
on both the UNIX and Windows platforms, since ITSSN supports
Microsoft FrontPage server extensions on both.
