Mass Mailing Network Limitations
ITSSN has recently implemented automated limitations for all of its e-mail platforms to protect ITSSN customers from users who might abuse shared e-mail resources. These new limitations, described in greater detail below, automatically suspend service to an e-mail account that sends more than the prescribed number of e- messages within a given period. ITSSN has developed these limitations with an eye toward avoiding any potential impact to our customers’ legitimate day-to-day e-mail operations. These new limitations have been set at a level that should result in little or no impact to your customers. In order to make these new limitations work, it is critically important that they not be divulged to the public at large. If they were published, users could circumvent the intent of these limitations by sending quantities of e-mail messages that were just below the limitations. Nevertheless, because ITSSN values its Resellers and wants to help them develop strong working relationships with their customers, we are providing the specific details of the new limitations below. We hope this information will help you to best support your customers. Please do not forward these limitations to your customers or to anyone other than persons in your organization who have a need to know these details. If these limitations become publicly available, ITSSN will have no choice but to modify them and refrain from sharing them in the future.
* Please note, AOL is only the first of many carriers to be added to this list with specific thresholds. ITSSN may add other carrier-specific limitations in the future. This new system will block all outgoing mail from users who meet or exceed these limits. At the time a block is initiated on a user’s e-mail service, a generic, non-branded e-mail message will be sent to the offending user, informing them that their ability to send messages from their system has been temporarily suspended. This e-mail message will be the only communication the user will receive regarding this blockage of service. Once a block has been placed on a user, it will remain in affect for 12 hours. Any e-mail messages sent during the blocked period will be deleted without notice. ITSSN understands the need for you to communicate this new feature to your customers. Below you will find some helpful information that may be used to craft a communication to your customers about these new limitations: We have implemented a dynamic policy to protect our shared e-mail resources and to avoid behaviors that might lead to blacklisting of our mail servers by other networks. This limitation policy provides simple guidelines that ensure our shared resources are not abused, eliminating potential negative impact for all customers. Currently, e-mail message blocks will be implemented against any user who exceeds a specific volume and frequency of outgoing e-mail messages. Once a user has been blocked by the dynamic system, they will be required to wait 12 hours before regaining their ability to send e-mail messages again. ITSSN looks forwarded to providing you and your customers with the most advanced tools in the fight against e-mail abuse, and is continuing to develop and deploy the latest technologies to improve your Internet experience.
